About US

Our open-access studio at The Depot opened in 2022 and is located at the historic Royal Ordnance Depot in the village of Weedon Bec south Northamptonshire approximately 4 miles from junction 16 of the M1: the unique buildings on this side date back to the time of the Napoleonic wars.

All our 6-week wheel-throwing courses include studio access outside of class time several days & evenings a week – come in and practice your new skills and meet your fellow potters!

We are an incredibly supportive community and welcome everyone from beginners through to advanced ceramic artists. Find out more throughout the website – or pop in to one of the studios and see for yourself what we have to offer.

WHAT IS AN ' OPEN-ACCESS '
POTTERY STUDIO?

The open-access model of ceramics studio is one common in the US but still relatively new here in the UK. It’s effectively a gym… for potters! Memberships, courses, taster sessions, one-off experiences… we aim to offer something for everyone, be they novice potters, experienced ceramic artists or those looking for an original experience to celebrate a special occasion.

WHAT FACiliTIES DO WE OFFER?

All students & members are assigned their own personal shelf for storage of their work for the duration of their course/membership. The studio offers 16 state-of-the-art Shimpo electric wheels, three electric kilns and a range of handbuilding equipment.

We glaze-fire to 1200 degrees centigrade, and offer a comprehensive range of brush-on and dipping stoneware glazes.
